The Indian Army has announced the Agniveer Recruitment 2025 under the Agnipath Scheme, inviting applications from eligible unmarried male candidates for various Agniveer positions. This initiative offers a unique opportunity to serve the nation and gain valuable experience through a four-year service tenure.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Age Limit:

    • Candidates must be between 17½ to 21 years of age.
  2. Educational Qualifications:

    • Agniveer (General Duty): Class 10th pass with 45% marks in aggregate and 33% in each subject.
    • Agniveer (Technical): Class 12th pass in Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English with 50% marks in aggregate and 40% in each subject.
    • Agniveer Clerk/Store Keeper (Technical): Class 12th pass in any stream with 60% marks in aggregate and 50% in each subject.
    • Agniveer Tradesmen (10th Pass): Class 10th pass with 33% marks in each subject.
    • Agniveer Tradesmen (8th Pass): Class 8th pass with 33% marks in each subject.

Selection Process:

The selection process comprises several stages designed to assess the candidates’ physical and mental aptitude:

  1. Online Computer-Based Written Examination (CEE):

    • Scheduled for June 2025, the CEE will evaluate candidates’ knowledge and aptitude relevant to the applied position.
  2. Recruitment Rally:

    • Candidates who qualify in the CEE will be called for a recruitment rally, which includes:
      • Physical Fitness Test (PFT): Assessing physical endurance and strength.
      • Physical Measurement Test (PMT): Ensuring candidates meet the required physical standards.
  3. Medical Examination:

    • Candidates clearing the above stages will undergo a medical examination to ensure they are medically fit for service.

Terms and Conditions:

  • Service Tenure:

    • Agniveers will be enrolled under the Indian Army Act 1950 for a period of four years. They will form a distinct rank in the Indian Army, different from existing ranks.
  • Permanent Enrollment:

    • Upon completion of four years, based on organizational requirements and policies, Agniveers may apply for permanent enrollment in the Indian Army. Up to 25% of each specific batch may be enrolled in the regular cadre, based on performance and requirements. However, there is no obligation for the Army to retain Agniveers beyond the four-year period.
  • Training:

    • Selected candidates will undergo military training as per Indian Army requirements to prepare them for their roles.
  • Leave:

    • Agniveers are entitled to:
      • Annual Leave: 30 days per year.
      • Sick Leave: Based on medical advice.
  • Medical and Canteen Facilities:

    • During their engagement period, Agniveers will have access to medical facilities at Service Hospitals and Canteen Stores Department provisions.
  • Pay, Allowances, and Benefits:

    • Agniveers will receive a customized monthly package with fixed yearly increments. In addition, they are entitled to risk and hardship allowances (as applicable), dress, and travel allowances.
  • Seva Nidhi Package:

    • Upon completion of the four-year tenure, Agniveers will receive a one-time ‘Seva Nidhi’ package, which includes their monthly contributions along with matching contributions from the government. The total contribution after four years is approximately ₹10.04 lakh, excluding interest.
  • Insurance and Compensation:

    • Agniveers will be provided with a non-contributory life insurance cover of ₹48 lakhs for the duration of their engagement period. They will not be governed by provisions of the Pension Regulations/Rules for the Indian Army.
  • Skill Certificate:

    • At the end of their engagement period, Agniveers will receive a detailed Skill-Set certificate highlighting the skills and competencies acquired during their tenure.
  • Marital Status:

    • Only unmarried candidates are eligible for enrollment as Agniveers. They must undertake not to marry during the four-year engagement period. Agniveers who marry during this period will be released from service. Additionally, only unmarried Agniveers will be eligible for re-enrollment in the regular cadre as Sepoy or equivalent upon selection.

  • An examination fee of ₹250/- per application is to be paid by the candidate for the online examination.
