Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar is spearheading efforts to provide employment to youth through the Van Mitra Yojana. The initiative was inaugurated by the Chief Minister himself in Chandigarh. He announced that families with an income of less than 180,000 rupees can benefit from this scheme.
The aim of the Van Mitra Yojana and the Van Mitra Portal is to encourage community participation in tree plantation activities on non-forest land, as stated by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. This scheme has been included in Mission 60000.
The primary objective of this scheme is to promote tree plantation on non-forest land. Each “Van Mitra” (Forest Friend) will receive financial support from the government based on the maintenance of plants.
Benefits and Features of Haryana Van Mitra Yojana
The Haryana government has initiated this scheme to provide employment opportunities to youth in states and to alleviate environmental pollution. Under this scheme, each Van Mitra can plant up to a maximum of 1000 plants.
In the first phase of the scheme, the selection of 7500 friends will be done through the portal. Applicants for this scheme must be between 18 and 60 years of age. Eligible citizens can register online on the portal, and after planting the trees, the Forest Department will take care of them.

To benefit from this scheme, applicants must be residents of Haryana. Applicants must be between 18 and 60 years of age, and the family’s annual income should be less than 180,000 rupees.
